Hello Everyone!

Let me start off by once again saying thanks to all of you who purchased my last autographed print series featuring Alex Lifeson. I’m still getting emails from fans around the world asking if I would releasing a new autographed print … well here it is!

Neil Peart has kindly agreed to sign 500 prints. It is 13.5” x 36” … that’s 3 feet long! It’s a print that shows 7 different images I have taken over the past 20 years of Neil in concert. Each print is numbered and dated in an edition of 500. To be clear, Neil has personally hand-signed every print to perfection!

It’s entitled “Neil Peart, Retrospective 2006” where it captures him on several different stages taken over the course of six different periods of Rush’s career. For example the far right image was taken in Buffalo, NY July 12th, 1984 during Rush’s Grace Under Pressure tour. It was the very first time I photographed Rush. I was pretty young at the time and I had borrowed my mother’s car to make the trek from Toronto to Buffalo. I literally had just bought my first camera and was excited about trying it out for the first time. Rush’s management had arranged for me to shoot the whole concert from the “pit” … the front of the stage, so needless to say I was feeling the pressure! Little did I know that this was just the beginning of a longtime relationship with the band. They ended up using a bunch of the images I took that night in their Power Windows tour book the following year. I was so excited about being published for the first time. If memory serves me correctly, the picture I’ve used in this print was taken during the song New World Man. You can tell by the headphones Neil has to wear during that song … the headphones he always hated wearing.

Next to that image is a close-up portrait of Neil taken during the Hold Your Fire tour where he is playing his white drum kit. I remember going to my photo lab after that concert with great anticipation as I couldn’t believe how spectacular the lighting was on that tour. At times, Neil’s kit would be flooded with a rainbow of colors creating the coolest effect as the light reflected off his white kit. I also love the ‘green’ image of Neil playing his wooded percussion for the song The Trees. It brings back great memories for me as a kid, seeing Neil play that song for the first time during the Hemisphere’s tour. Another favorite image is the shot of Neil from The Roll The Bones tour that I took when I was the band’s personal assistant and tour photographer. I had unprecedented access that allowed me to photograph the band in many different circumstances. Just like this shot of Neil tossing his stick in the air in Boston. The venue had these overhead walkways in the ceiling that span the full width of the amphitheater. I was able to climb up into the rafters to get this shot. I was scared shitless, but I was able to capture this great moment!

Cheers,

Andrew MacNaughtan
